In 1996 Monitor Audio launched the Reference Series 700 PMC speakers, which included 4 models – 700 PMC, 702 PMC, 703 PMC and 705 PMC. This series featured Gold Dome tweeters and the Profile Monitor cones, which had only previously featured in the more expensive Studio range. These speakers utilised low loss capacitors and a bi-wireable design to help reduce the ‘noise floor’ and enhance dynamic reproduction. These were given 5 stars from What HiFi describing them as ‘phenomenal value’. They were also awarded a HiFi News and HiFi Choice Recommended badge. The slogan for this range was ‘Nature’s Greatest Sound Effect’.
