Starting with the Studio 10, the Studio series is born. The Studio 10 featured the latest version of the ferrofluid-cooled, gold-anodized, aluminium/magnesium alloy drive-unit with a vented pole-piece that was developed with the manufacturer Elac.
A custom-made 100-strand cable was used for all the internal wiring, while the 6-element crossover featured polyester capacitors. The bass loading was reflex, a 2"-diameter, 4"-deep port being sited toward the top of the cabinet's back panel above the two pairs of 5-way binding posts, allowing bi-wiring or bi-amplification. Monitor Audio called this ‘Single Flow Reflex’.
The cabinet was constructed entirely from ¾" Medite, damped with bituminous panels and plastic foam. The Studio 10s were rosewood-veneered on all sides. This veneer had come from a single rosewood log, said to be the oldest in the UK, that Mo Iqbal had bought for $80,000.
