In 1972, Monitor Audio released their first loudspeaker – MA1. The designers aimed to produce a natural open acoustic, with very low colouration. In common with the BBC Monitors, the MA1 was designed to be used on a rigid open stand, in order to minimise the effects of low frequency room colouration. The MA1 featured 3 drivers, with a KEF B139 woofer.
