We spoke to Instagram follower @026rpm about his audio equipment, record collection and his favourite album
When did you start collecting records?
In the late 90’s, when I as a teenager, I started to hang around the local punk venue. I noticed that all underground crust and grind core bands were only selling records. I called my dad “Do you have your old turntable somewhere? Can you bring me your old records”. If he knew then what kind of records I was going to listen to, I’m not sure he would have given it to me. Anyway, from that point, I began buying tonnes of punk records.
What's your favourite record?
I have a new favourite album every six months. It’s hard to think that anyone can give a straight answer to that question, but I’ll try. I have to choose something that I thing is flawless, not a bad song. And it needs to make me smile, just holding it, today AND twenty years ago… I’ll go with Roky Erickson And The Aliens, self-titled from 1980. Doesn’t matter how I feel and what I’m doing, I can always listen to it… I already regret my pick, next question.
Who is your favourite artist/band?
It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Roky Erickson by now. The Ramones and Misfits will always be the foundation for my interest in music. In the name of namedropping: Danava, love everything they have done. Beardfish, local progressive heroes, awesome band. Nektar and I don’t know why, but I love Pavlov’s Dog. You see, no logic, just good music.
What's your favourite music based magazine?
Never been much a reader. When I travel, I always try to get a hold on an issue of ‘Record Collector Magazine’ or ‘Hifi & Musik’ (Swedish title). When going online I always end up on ‘What Hi-Fi?’ reading news and reviews. We all love to read about things we cannot afford, right?
