This year looks to be extremely promising for the gaming industry. Following two years of major delays, our patience has finally paid off as 2023 looks jam-packed with blockbuster AAA game releases. It finally looks like we’re back on track!

Alan Wake 2

Remedy Entertainment | Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S

The much-hoped-for sequel to 2010s Alan Wake is Remedy's first-ever survival horror game. At the end of the last game, we saw Alan trapped in The Dark Presense, but after his appearance in 2019’s Control, we'll soon find out how he makes his escape. This deep, layered mystery is bound to be a hit.

 

Dead Island 2

As a deadly virus is spreading across Los Angeles, you control a slayer who is bitten and infected. With a brand-new skill system allowing you to re-spec and customise your slayer, you must learn to harness the zombie inside. Nine years after its initial reveal, fans will welcome the return of the much-loved zombie saga.

 

The Day Before

FNTASTIC | MYTONA | PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows

In this deadly open-world MMO survival from FNTASTIC, set in post-pandemic America, you wake up alone in a world you no longer remember, setting out to find answers. As you scavenge for resources to survive, you must navigate dark abandoned buildings, and busy streets, avoiding flesh-hungry infected and survivors killing each other for food, weapons, and cars.

 

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

The sequel to the best Nintendo Switch game and possibly one of the best games of all time is due to arrive this year, after being teased in 2019. We can’t wait to get back to Hyrule to help solve the kingdom's latest mystery. With the original’s go anywhere, do anything attitude to gameplay, alongside its stunning art style and gorgeous music, let’s hope the sequel lives up to the first game’s prestige.

 

Starfield

Bethesda | Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows

In a space-themed world, Bethesda introduce us to a new, next-generation experience, as you control a member of Constellation, an organisation of space explorers. Although we are yet to see gameplay, we know the game is set in the year 2310, and will have the player exploring The Settled Systems, an area that extends outward from the Solar System for approximately 50 light-years.

 

Hogwarts Legacy

Set in the late 1800s in the Wizarding World, Harry Potter fans will rejoice at the thought of exploring Hogwarts, in this open-world action RPG. Be the center of your own adventure, as you master Ancient Magic, battle foul Dementors, dark wizards and gigantic dragons using the powerful Abraxan.

 

God of War: Ragnarök

The follow up to the wildly successful God of War reboot in 2018, the game will be set in Norway, featuring Kratos and his son Atreus. The story is expected to be set around the initiation of Ragnarök, a series of events that brings the end of the world.

 

Marvel's Spider-Man 2

Miles Morales will be joined by Peter Parker for the sequel to the 2018 blockbuster adventure. Alongside a potential showdown with Venom, snippets showed another villain, most likely Kraven the Hunter. The next chapter in Peter Parker's story is just around the corner. You'll be web-slinging in no time!

 

Assassin's Creed Mirage

In a surprise move from Ubisoft, despite the success of 2020's Valhalla, Assassin’s Creed returns to its stealthy roots, this time set in 9th century Baghdad. Experience the story of Basim, a cunning street thief seeking answers and justice, as he navigates the bustling streets. As you once again train to become a deadly Master Assassin, parkour will again become key in order to join the Hidden Ones.

 

Lord of the Rings: Gollum

Set before the events of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, you control Gollum, and must learn to adapt to both sides of his personality in order to survive, as you take the childlike "Sméagol" and the evil "Gollum" through the Woodland Realm of northern Mirkwood and fortresses of the Dark Lord Sauron.
