As the warm weather picks up, we inch closer to the summer festivals. Glastonbury, with a staggering daily attendance of around 200,000, is the largest music festival in the UK.
In this article, we’ve put together a list of the acts we are most excited to hear at this year's festival:
A local band to Monitor Audio Group, the Southend-on-Sea-born indie/alternative rock act will be returning to the Other Stage, where they also performed in 2017. Formed in 2012, the band were praised for early tracks such as ‘Itch’ and ‘Trip Switch’, both of which appeared on their 2015 self-titled debut record. Their most recent album, ‘Dead Club City’, was released in June 2023 to critical and commercial success, topping both the British and Dutch music charts. Lead single ‘Welcome to the DDC’ received widespread airplay and praise, winning the BBC Radio 1 Record of the Year.

Afrobeats artist Burna Boy will also be performing on the Other Stage. The Nigerian star, who also draws on reggae, dancehall, and local folk influences, is one of his country’s best-known acts. A prolific artist, Burna Boy has released seven albums, two mixtapes and two extended plays in the past 13 years. This includes 2023’s ‘I Told Them…’, which topped the UK charts.

American artist SZA will be taking the main Pyramid Stage for her set. The singer, hailing from St. Louis, Missouri, combines elements from a variety of genres in her music including R&B, hip hop, and soul. Her work, including chart-topping single ‘Kill Bill’ and album ‘SOS’ earned critical acclaim, the latter of which earning her a Grammy at the most recent ceremony. Her third record, Lana, will be released later this year.

Irish artists Fontaines D.C. will be playing at The Park stage at this year’s festival. The band, who formed in Dublin, are known for their catchy melodies and poetic vocals from frontman Grian Chatten, in addition to drawing on a diverse variety of influences, including punk, post-punk, and indie rock. The band have released three albums to date, including the Grammy award-winning sophomore ‘A Hero’s Death’. Their fourth record, Romance, is scheduled for an August 2024 release.
