American singer-songwriter returns for her third studio album with the magnificent Water Made Us. Born out of a period of "intense self-reflection and creative expression" during the pandemic, Woods latest offering is touchingly personal, reflecting on her own experiences, providing a wholesome collection of songs that wonderfully mix R&B and neo soul. An unflinching and honest look at the navigation of love, at Its very best, and worst.

Sufjan Stevens | Asthmatic Kitty
American singer and multi-instrumentalist Sufjan Stevens introduces Javelin, a truly chaotic and joyful album. For the first time since Carrie & Lowell, Stevens returns to "full singer-songwriter mode”, offering a phenomenal fusion of electronic and softly plucked banjo sounds. Though slightly confusing at times, it’s the little details that shine through on his tenth studio album. Across ten captivating tracks, Stevens’ delicate melodies offer a memorable tribute to Evans Richardson, his late partner.

Avenade | Avenade
Dark and gritty, little known Illinois-based rockers Avanade offer up Our Raging God Unknown to Us, their epic fourth studio album. This rock project from songwriter Matt Hawkins is about loss, paranoia and isolation, but despite these dark themes, Hawkins touches on redemption, therapy and recovery. The record has a cathartic blend of noise and sludge, with heavy hitters and epic passages. Fans are sure to be inspired and will be pleased to hear that this talented group will be around for some time.

CMAT | CMATBABY
Folk singer-songwriter CMAT follows up on her aspirational debut, with her bold and ambitious second studio album. Crazymad, For Me Is described as a concept album about a 47-year-old CMAT time travelling back to the past to prevent herself from being in a relationship that "ruined her life", as well as "an abstract break-up album" about "what happens when you are still angry about something that happened 10 years ago”. Her latest record cements herself as one of Ireland’s finest songwriters.

Helena Deland | Chivi Chivi
Canadian art pop musician Helena Deland presents her second studio album. At a leisurely pace, piano and woodwinds accompany acoustic guitar and gentle percussion, as Deland’s warm vocals gently move you through each track. A record about the ache of grief, Deland addresses her emotions on Goodnight Summerland, but doesn’t allow them to engulf her. A calm of quiet melodies showcase her stunning voice, as Deland reflects on her mother passing, with beautiful observations about the passage of time.
